The History of CGL & Associates

In 1974, James M. (Mac) Clark and Vasco R. Geer, both Civil Engineers, founded Clark & Geer Engineers. By providing excellent engineering to a wide variety of industrial and commercial clients, the firm grew to include all disciplines of engineering and architectural services. In 1988, Clark & Geer Engineers merged with Latham Engineering to form Clark, Geer, Latham & Associates, Inc. (CGL)

In December 2019, CGL lost one of its oldest and dearest clients in the death of Nicholas H. Holmes, III, the sole proprietor of Holmes and Holmes Architects (H&H). The relationship that CGL and H&H shared began in the mid 1950’s when the firm Holmes and Geer was founded. Continuing that relationship, CGL was pleased to welcome the former staff of Holmes & Holmes as part of our growing team.

CGL continues to provide superior engineering and architectural services to numerous clients, both in the local Mobile area market and across the nation. CGL’s dedication to customer service is the cornerstone to our more than 47 year success.
